Pakistan and Türkiye Agree to Further Strengthen Defense Relations

Commander of Turkish Land Forces Meets Defense Minister Khawaja Asif; Regional Peace, Stability, and Defense Cooperation Discussed

Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, General Metin Tokel, met with Federal Minister for Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif in Islamabad on Thursday. During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye, defense cooperation, and the overall regional situation.

During the meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed the shared history, mutual trust, strong people-to-people ties, and close cooperation that characterize relations between Pakistan and Türkiye. On the occasion, the Chief of the Turkish Land Forces appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and stability and emphasized the importance of further enhancing defense ties between the two countries.

General Metin Tokel described the Pakistan–Türkiye High-Level Military Dialogue Group as an effective platform for promoting cooperation in defense, military affairs, and the defense industry. Reaffirming Türkiye’s commitment to regional peace and stability, he stressed the need to further expand bilateral cooperation.

Federal Minister for Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif thanked the leadership and people of Türkiye for their continued and sincere support for Pakistan during difficult times and expressed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening the exemplary relations between the two countries.

Various aspects of defense cooperation and matters of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting. Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to further expand and strengthen the defense partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye so that bilateral relations can reach new heights.
