Islamabad (Special Reporter) – Khawaja Khaqan Waheed, Chairman of Rawal General and Dental Hospital and Rawal Foundation, and head of Pakistan Awami Quwat Party, has welcomed the reduction in petroleum product prices and demanded a further decrease in fuel prices.
In a statement, he said that if the government is genuinely serious about improving the condition of the poor, it should further reduce the prices of petrol and diesel.
He stated that due to the excessive increase in petroleum product prices, the prices of daily essential commodities have reached unprecedented levels. He urged the government to immediately implement further reductions in petroleum prices and introduce an effective monitoring system to ensure that the prices of everyday essential goods are also reduced without delay.
He further called for a reduction in transport fares and demanded that the prices of essential commodities be restored to the levels that existed before March 7. He said that although the reduction of Rs. 74 in petrol prices has provided some relief to the public, greater relief measures are needed to bring real ease to the lives of poor people.
