Strict Crackdown Re-Launched Against Helmetless Motorcyclists in Rawalpindi; Zero Tolerance Policy Enforced

Rawalpindi Traffic Police have once again launched a strict crackdown against motorcyclists riding without helmets, enforcing a citywide zero-tolerance policy.

On the directions of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam, special enforcement teams have been deployed across Mall Road, Peshawar Road, major highways, and key entry and exit points of the city to ensure effective implementation of traffic laws.

CTO Farhan Aslam stated that the purpose of this campaign is not to generate revenue through fines but to protect precious human lives. He noted that approximately 73 percent of fatalities and injuries in traffic accidents involve motorcyclists, making their safety a critical necessity.

He further said that severe head injuries during accidents are the leading cause of death, while the use of helmets can significantly reduce such risks. According to him, previous enforcement drives promoting helmet use resulted in a nearly 40 percent reduction in head trauma cases, and efforts will continue to further improve this outcome through strict enforcement.

Farhan Aslam added that adherence to traffic laws will not only reduce accidents but also ease pressure on emergency departments in public and private hospitals.

He urged citizens to wear helmets not out of fear of fines but for their own safety and to demonstrate responsible citizenship by following lane discipline.

The CTO made it clear that helmet use and compliance with traffic regulations are essential for safe travel, and indiscriminate legal action will continue against violators in accordance with the law.
