Effective Measures Essential for Promoting Alternative Energy, Especially Solar Power
Islamabad (Special Correspondent)
Chairman of the Pakistan Alternative Energy Association, Asif Javed, has said that solarization is not only environment-friendly but also a guarantee for Pakistan’s future energy security.
He stated that the development of the alternative energy sector and the resolution of challenges faced by the solar industry can significantly promote green energy in the country. He emphasized that, in view of Pakistan’s growing energy crisis, dependence on imported fuel, and the impacts of climate change, there is an urgent need to promote alternative energy, particularly solar power.
Asif Javed said that although the government has taken several positive steps to promote renewable energy, it is essential to address practical issues faced by the solar sector on a priority basis. These include policy consistency, taxation issues, availability of imported solar equipment, and matters related to net metering. Resolving these challenges, he noted, is necessary to restore investor confidence and attract further investment in the sector.
He further stated that timely resolution of issues and obstacles in the solar industry will not only promote green energy but will also help provide affordable and sustainable electricity to the economy, industries, and the general public.
