“A Book Is a Person’s Best Companion; Reading Develops Awareness and Positive Thinking,” Says Asma Ismail Butt

Rawalpindi (City Reporter): Renowned writer Allah Ditta Najmi’s new book, Khush Bayaniyan (Pleasant Narratives), has been published. In the book, the author chronicles his life experiences, memorable recollections of Rawalpindi, and personalities from various walks of life in a distinctive literary style. The publication also pays special tribute to the literary and artistic contributions of acclaimed author and director Asma Ismail Butt, while recalling the era when stage drama was at its peak.

Speaking on the occasion, Asma Ismail Butt said, “A book is a person’s best companion. Allah Ditta Najmi’s Khush Bayaniyan is a captivating collection of memories, observations, and beautiful writing, and every lover of literature should read it.”

She expressed her gratitude to Allah Ditta Najmi for preserving cherished memories of the past in such a graceful manner. According to her, talented writers and readers still exist today; however, the declining trend of book reading is a matter of serious concern.

Asma Ismail Butt further stated that reading newspapers and books develops awareness, broadens intellectual horizons, and fosters positive thinking. She noted, however, that modern technology, mobile phones, and the internet have distanced the younger generation from books.

Expressing her concern, she said that she feels delighted whenever she sees someone reading a book while traveling, but is saddened to observe that most young people remain occupied with mobile phones and the internet instead.

She emphasized that reading enhances knowledge and that people should continue acquiring knowledge and skills throughout their lives.
