BADIN (Bureau Report): A dignified ceremony was held at Gymkhana Badin under the auspices of Alkhidmat Foundation Sindh for the distribution of wheelchairs among persons with disabilities in Badin district. A large number of persons with disabilities, along with government officials, social figures, lawyers, members of the business community, journalists and citizens, participated enthusiastically in the event.
The chief guest was Additional Deputy Commissioner Badin Kashif Raza Mangi. Assistant Commissioner Rajesh Kumar, Jamaat-e-Islami District Badin Ameer Syed Ali Mardan Shah Gilani, senior journalist and Senior Vice President of the Hyderabad Union of Journalists Tanveer Ahmed Arain were also present. President of Jamaat-e-Islami Alkhidmat Foundation Badin District Ghulam Rasool Ahmedani, General Secretary Abdul Karim Buleedi, Ayaz Latif Soomro and other prominent personalities from various walks of life also attended the ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kashif Raza Mangi said that Alkhidmat Foundation was serving humanity without discrimination on the basis of color, race, language or religion, which was a commendable example worthy of emulation. He said that helping people with physical disabilities was not only a social responsibility but also a great human and religious duty.
He said that providing facilities to persons with disabilities meant giving them the right to live a dignified and independent life, while such welfare initiatives promoted hope, love and a sense of responsibility in society.
Senior Vice President of the Hyderabad Union of Journalists Tanveer Ahmed Arain said in his address that the social services of Alkhidmat Foundation were highly commendable. He said that through the construction of permanent houses for flood-affected homeless families in Badin district, sponsorship of orphan children, and various health, education and welfare projects, Alkhidmat had set a shining example of serving humanity.
He said that the district administration would continue to cooperate with Alkhidmat Foundation in every positive and public welfare project, adding that such organizations were valuable assets for society.
Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Badin District Engineer Syed Ali Mardan Shah Gilani said that Alkhidmat Foundation considered serving suffering humanity its foremost responsibility. Under its Orphan Support Program, the foundation was providing monthly stipends, textbooks, uniforms and ration to registered orphan children across the district.
He said that helping the weaker and deprived segments of society was the foundation of a truly welfare-oriented society.
President of Alkhidmat Foundation Badin District Ghulam Rasool Ahmedani said that, in addition to supporting persons with disabilities, widows, orphans and deserving families, the organization was providing vegetable and fruit carts to unemployed individuals to help them earn a respectable livelihood. He added that interest-free loans were also being provided under the Islamic Microfinance Program, through which hundreds of families were becoming economically stable.
He said that Alkhidmat Foundation considered service to humanity an act of worship and remained committed to reaching every needy person without discrimination.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, wheelchairs were distributed among persons with disabilities. The beneficiaries and their families appreciated the humanitarian initiative of Alkhidmat Foundation, saying that such welfare projects not only helped reduce the difficulties faced by persons with disabilities but also encouraged them to lead dignified, confident and active lives.
The ceremony was attended by respected citizens, traders, lawyers, social workers, journalists and people from various schools of thought. The participants expressed their determination to further promote cooperation between government institutions and welfare organizations for the service of deprived and special persons so that real and positive change could be brought to the lives of those in need.
