Restrictions to Remain in Force from August 10 to 16; Violators to Face Action Under Section 188

In view of Independence Day celebrations, the district administration has taken an important decision to ensure law and order, smooth traffic flow, and the safety of citizens and tourists in Murree by restricting access to Mall Road and GPO Chowk.
According to an official notification issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner Murree, only families will be allowed access to Mall Road and GPO Chowk from August 10 to August 16, 2026, while the movement of unrelated individuals will remain restricted.
The orders have been issued under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
According to the administration, the measure has been taken to control the expected crowds, traffic pressure and prevent any possible untoward incident during Independence Day celebrations. The decision was made in light of recommendations from police authorities and the prevailing security situation.
The notification states that legal action will be taken against violators under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Relevant administrative and police authorities have also been directed to ensure strict implementation of the orders.
The district administration has appealed to citizens and tourists to follow the instructions issued by the administration during Independence Day celebrations so that peace, discipline and smooth traffic flow can be maintained in Murree.
The orders, issued under Notification No. DC-MRE/310 dated August 10, 2026, will remain in force until August 16, 2026.
