Public-Centric Economic Policies Needed to Eliminate Poverty and Control Inflation
Islamabad (Special Reporter):
Chairman of the Pakistan Awami Quwwat Party and Chairman of Rawal General and Dental Hospital and Rawal Foundation, Khakan Waheed Khawaja, has said that the storm of inflation shows no sign of slowing down, with its basic cause being policies that have failed to provide relief to the people from rising prices.
He expressed these views while speaking to various delegations that visited his office. The delegations included Maulana Zahid Mahmood, Safir Shah and other political and social leaders.
He said that people had been driven to the point of attempting suicide due to poverty and inflation. He stressed that policies must be introduced that address poverty at its roots and provide sustainable relief to the public.
Khakan Waheed Khawaja said that repeated increases in petrol and diesel prices had contributed significantly to inflation, creating a burden that the ordinary citizen could no longer afford.
He called for the formation of a team comprising technical experts who understand the rights and needs of the people and can formulate effective public-oriented policies. He emphasized that such policies must then be implemented in practice to provide meaningful relief to citizens.
