The Additional District and Sessions Court in Rawalpindi has delivered a landmark verdict in the tragic Chauntra massacre case. Judge Majid Hussain Gadhi has sentenced the culprits to death five times each for the brutal killing of nine family members.
Key Highlights of the Case:
The Incident: In July 2020, a horrific shooting occurred in the Chauntra area of Rawalpindi due to old family enmity, resulting in the deaths of 9 people, including 5 women and 4 minor children.
The Verdict (May 12, 2026): The court found seven accused—Danish, Babar, Rab Nawaz, Akram, Ashraf, Qaiser, and Aqib—guilty. They have been sentenced to be hanged until death (5 death sentences each).
Fines & Penalties: Along with the capital punishment, the court imposed a fine of 500,000 PKR on each convict and ordered additional compensation.
Backstory: The High Court had remanded the case back for a fresh decision a year ago. The initial investigation revealed the motive was revenge for a previous murder in Mayal village.
