Islamabad (Special Report) – Commander (Retd) Shwaz Hussain Baloch, head of the “May Day Foundation” for persons with disabilities, met with Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Syed Iftikhar Mehdi in Islamabad. During the meeting, the general services and proposals of Commander (Retd) Shwaz Baloch were praised. A former naval pilot, he did not lose hope despite becoming visually impaired during his service and established several organizations for public welfare. Commander (Retd) Shwaz Baloch emphasized the need for reserved seats for persons with disabilities in Parliament and provincial assemblies and called for the effective implementation of the Disability Act 2020. He stated that nearly 35 million people in the country are persons with disabilities, and including their families, this number rises to about 70 million. By implementing the laws, 100 to 120 million individuals could benefit. The governor appreciated Commander (Retd) Shwaz Baloch’s efforts and assured him of all possible support. At the end of the meeting, Commander (Retd) Shwaz Baloch presented his book to the governor. The chairman of the Pakistan Baloch Council, Imtiaz Hussain Baloch, was also present on this occasion.
