The CDA Labor Union’s Advisory Council meeting decided to participate vigorously in the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal procession.
Islamabad (Staff Reporter) An important meeting of the CDA Labor Union (CBA) Advisory Council was held under the chairmanship of President Aurangzeb Khan at the Central Chairman’s Office. The meeting was attended by CDA Labor Union General Secretary Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen, Supreme Head Mirza Saeed Akhtar, Haji Saber, Malik Asim, Izhar Abbasi, Sardar Naseem Mumtaz, Chaudhry Wajid Gujjar, Sardar Muhammad Asif, Asad Mahmood, Chaudhry Shahid Iqbal, Chaudhry Anwar, Chaudhry Saghir, Safdar Abbasi, Zahid Hussain Bhatti, Waris Dalip, Tariq Afridi, Ayaz Abbasi, Sardar Ikhlaq, Syed Zafar Shah, Sajid Rashid, Raja Shakeeb, Syed Irshad Shah, among other officials and employees who participated in large numbers. The meeting discussed organizational matters, employee issues, future action plans, and detailed consultations regarding the Milad-un-Nabi procession to be held on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal. It was mutually decided that the procession would depart from Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen’s residence on Wednesday at 9 AM, with CDA Labor Union officials and employees participating vigorously. The participants of the procession will collectively join the central procession from there. Addressing the meeting, CDA Labor Union General Secretary Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen stated that Allah has honored the CDA Labor Union to celebrate Milad-un-Nabi every year with great devotion, enthusiasm, and passion. He said that the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal is a highly blessed and historic day for Muslims, and therefore all employees should participate fully on this blessed occasion to express their love and devotion to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen mentioned that the CDA Labor Union has compiled all the fundamental and important demands of the employees in the form of a Charter of Demands, which will now be presented to the CDA administration with the consultation of the employees, after which formal work on the demands will commence. He emphasized that the primary priority of the labor union is to protect employee rights and resolve their issues. He stated that the CDA Labor Union is fully aware of the potential privatization of the Sanitation, Environment, and Water Supply Directorates and that some officials within the institution are attempting to weaken the CDA and limit its role. Recently, approximately 2,600 various positions within the institution have been abolished, while there is already a shortage of over 7,000 personnel in the CDA, which is increasing the workload on employees and threatening to impact civic services. He asserted that the CDA is a national institution that has been strengthened by the hard work and sacrifices of its laborers. The fundamental sectors of the institution will not be allowed to weaken or be abolished under any circumstances, and in this regard, the labor union will continue its legal, democratic, and practical struggle for the protection of employee rights and the national institution.
