Rawalpindi: (Syed Shahid Waheed Hashmi) The Rawalpindi Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive traffic plan to maintain the flow of traffic and provide alternative routes for citizens on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal. According to the traffic plan, over 910 traffic police personnel will perform their duties, while traffic will be diverted to alternative routes along the procession paths. The traffic police stated that two central processions will be held in Rawalpindi for Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ. The first procession will commence from Jamia Masjid Hanafia on Jamia Masjid Road, passing through Pul Shah Nazar, Bani Chowk, Murree Road, Committee Chowk, Liaquat Road, Fawara Chowk, and Dangi Khoi, concluding at the central camp at Jamia Masjid Daera. During the procession, Murree Road will be completely closed from both sides. Traffic heading from Rawalpindi to Islamabad will be diverted towards Tipu Road from Liaquat Bagh Chowk, while traffic coming from Islamabad to Rawalpindi will be sent towards Rawal Road via Rawal Road Turn. Traffic from Liaquat Bagh heading to Fawara Chowk will be diverted towards Gwalmandi from DAV College. The second central procession will start from 22 Number Chowki, proceeding through Tench Road, Dhoke Syedan Chowk, Kalma Chowk, 22 Number Chowk, Adra Road, State Life Building Turn, MH Chowk, Mahfooz Chowk, Mansehra Adda, Cantt Police Station, Nishtar Street, Adamjee Road, Mithu Khan Compound, Railway Road, Military Accounts, Kamran Market, and concluding at GTS Chowk, Old Wara Adda. According to the traffic police, traffic coming from Kalma Chowk to 22 Number Chowk will be diverted towards Harley Street during the procession, while traffic heading to Khattak Chowk, CMH, and Tench will also be redirected to the alternative route via Harley Street. When the procession reaches Mall Road, traffic coming from Peshawar Road will be diverted from Qasim Market towards Sher Khan Road, while traffic heading to Peshawar Road from Kacheri Chowk will be redirected towards Murree Road from TM Chowk. Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam stated that entry of heavy vehicles, including tractor trolleys, trailers, and trucks, will not be permitted on the procession routes. Parking of any kind will also not be allowed within a 300-yard area from the main stage of the procession. CTO Farhan Aslam mentioned that special arrangements have been made for the movement of ambulances, fire brigades, and other emergency vehicles, and additional personnel have been deployed to divert traffic to alternative routes to maintain the flow of traffic.
The Chief Traffic Officer has appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel on the procession routes during the Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ celebrations and to use the alternative routes provided by the traffic police. He stated that all available resources are being utilized to facilitate citizens and maintain the flow of traffic.
