On the directives of the Director General of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA), a major operation was conducted in Chakwal, resulting in the recovery of 200kg of unhygienic and harmful meat.
Acting on a tip-off regarding the transport of meat from sick animals to Rawalpindi via passenger vehicles, the PFA team, led by Mehtab Khan, set up a checkpoint at Sadiqabad Chowk, Talagang. With the assistance of the Traffic Police, Punjab Police, and the Livestock Department, a suspicious vehicle was intercepted.
Upon inspection, Deputy Director Zia Anjum and Dr. Sajjad from the Livestock Department declared the meat foul-smelling and unfit for human consumption. The PFA team immediately destroyed the seized meat to ensure public safety. The suspect, Shahnawaz, has been arrested and shifted to City Police Station Talagang, where legal proceedings under the PFA and Slaughter Control Acts have been initiated.
