Timely Provision of Academic Materials to Students Is Our Priority, Says Vice Chancellor

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has set a new precedent by taking practical steps to ensure the timely provision of educational facilities to students. On the special instructions of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood, the dispatch of textbooks to students enrolled in the Autumn 2026 semester has begun alongside the ongoing admission process.
For the first time in the university’s history, the process of delivering textbooks to students has been initiated simultaneously with admissions.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood said that relieving students of the wait for textbooks and ensuring the timely provision of academic materials is the university’s priority. He said the initiative aims to provide students with the necessary study materials at the very beginning of their academic journey and make the distance-learning system more effective.
He directed that the dispatch of textbooks be completed according to the prescribed schedule in line with the university’s annual academic calendar, ensuring that every student receives a complete set of books corresponding to the courses in which they are enrolled.
Referring to complaints during the previous semester regarding students receiving incomplete sets of textbooks, Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood said that such complaints should not arise during the current semester.
He directed the relevant authorities to carefully prepare complete book packages according to the courses selected by each student and ensure their timely delivery. He further instructed officials to make effective use of available human resources, logistical resources and administrative capacity during the preparation and dispatch of textbooks so that students do not face any inconvenience.
Director Admissions Syed Zia-ul-Hasnain, while briefing the Vice Chancellor, said that textbooks were initially being dispatched to students enrolled in the Associate Degree in Arts and Associate Degree in Commerce programmes. Students enrolled in other programmes would also receive their textbooks in phases according to the prescribed schedule.
He said the process of dispatching textbooks to all students enrolled in the Autumn 2026 semester would be completed by November 15, 2026.
He added that linking the textbook delivery process with admissions would give students access to study materials for their respective courses from the beginning of their academic activities, enabling them to plan their studies in a timely manner and making the learning process easier.
The initiative by Allama Iqbal Open University represents more than an improvement in the textbook delivery system; it is a practical expression of the university’s commitment to valuing students’ time, ensuring academic continuity and providing services on time.
The simultaneous commencement of textbook dispatch with admissions is an important facility for distance-learning students and reflects improvements in the university’s administrative performance, educational services and continued focus on student-centered policies.
