FIA Immigration at Islamabad Airport Takes Action; Passenger Referred to Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Over Suspected Links with Human Smugglers
Islamabad (Report: Izhar Khan Niazi): The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration Wing at Islamabad International Airport foiled an attempt by a passenger to travel abroad using a fake South African visa and offloaded him from the flight.
According to the FIA, on July 8, 2026, the passenger, who was travelling to Qatar on a work visa aboard SalamAir flight OV-564, was stopped during secondary profiling. During the verification of his travel documents, the South African visa affixed to his passport was found to be forged, raising suspicions of illegal immigration and possible links with human smugglers.
The FIA subsequently handed the passenger over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC), Islamabad, for further legal proceedings. The agency has also recommended initiating an inquiry to determine the possible involvement of the relevant immigration officials. Further investigation is underway.
