Rawalpindi (Syed Shahid Waheed Hashmi): On the directives of Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam, Chief Security Officer Traffic Inspector Muhammad Wasim issued a comprehensive traffic plan for the procession being taken out from Chohar Chowk, Peshawar Road, on Wednesday, August 12 (28 Safar-ul-Muzaffar) in connection with the Chehlum of the Martyrs of Karbala.
The plan has been prepared to ensure smooth traffic flow and security arrangements during the procession.
According to Traffic Police, more than 250 officers and personnel will perform special duties during the procession. Additional personnel have also been deployed on alternative routes to maintain the smooth flow of traffic.
According to the traffic plan, Peshawar Road will remain completely closed from Charing Cross to Pirwadhai Mor from the beginning until the conclusion of the procession.
Traffic traveling from Saddar toward Peshawar will be diverted from Charing Cross via Westridge Road, Atta-ul-Haq Road, Najam Shaheed Road, Westridge-III Road, APS School, and Marble Factory toward I.J.P. Road.
Similarly, traffic traveling from Peshawar toward Saddar will be diverted from Pirwadhai Road via I.J.P. Road, Carriage Factory Road, Ganjmandi Mor, Bakery Chowk, Rumi Road, Transit Camp, and Ikram-ul-Haq Road toward Saddar.
Range Road will also remain completely closed to traffic from Chohar Chowk. Traffic coming from Misrial Road toward Chohar Chowk will be diverted through Range Road as an alternative route to reach its destination.
Hali Road will remain closed from Chohar Chowk to Najam Shaheed Chowk.
Traffic traveling from Marble Factory Road toward Chohar Chowk will be diverted from Najam Shaheed Chowk (Tanky Chowk) toward Westridge Road.
Allahabad Road will remain closed from Ashiana Chowk to Progressive School. Traffic traveling from Westridge Bazaar toward Ashiana Chowk will be provided alternative routes via Marble Factory Road and Westridge-III Road.
Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam directed officers and personnel deployed for duty to ensure full implementation of the issued traffic plan during the Chehlum procession and ensure that traffic flow is not disrupted under any circumstances.
He made it clear that negligence or carelessness in the performance of duties would not be tolerated.
The Chief Traffic Officer appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel on Peshawar Road and in adjoining areas during the procession and to follow the alternative route instructions issued by the Traffic Police to help maintain smooth traffic flow.
