Comprehensive Strategy Essential to Address the Challenge of Rapid Population Growth, Says National Assembly Speaker

Providing Equal Opportunities in Education, Healthcare, and Employment to Youth is the Key to National Development, Says Sardar Ayaz Sadiq

Islamabad (Izhar Khan Niazi): Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that comprehensive planning, effective policies, public awareness, and the collective efforts of all segments of society are essential to address the challenges arising from rapid population growth. He emphasized that providing young people with equal opportunities in quality education, healthcare, skills development, and dignified employment is a vital requirement for the country’s development and prosperity.

In his message on the occasion of World Population Day, the Speaker said that the purpose of observing the day is to raise awareness about population-related issues and highlight the importance of collective action for sustainable development. Referring to this year’s theme, “Empowering Young People to Create the Families They Want in a Fair and Hopeful World,” he said that the youth are Pakistan’s most valuable asset, and by channeling their potential in a positive direction, the country can move steadily toward progress and prosperity.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq stated that Pakistan’s rapidly growing population is placing increasing pressure on limited resources, education, healthcare, employment, and other basic services. He stressed the need for a long-term strategy and the effective utilization of available resources to address these challenges. He also urged civil society, the media, religious scholars, and experts to play an effective role in creating public awareness regarding population-related issues.

He further said that Parliament remains committed to effective legislation aimed at public welfare, social development, and a sustainable future, adding that economic stability and an improved standard of living for the people can be achieved through collective efforts.

In his message, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah said that maintaining a balanced population is essential for economic stability and the provision of basic services. He stated that by providing young people with better opportunities in education, healthcare, and employment, they can become active contributors to national development. He added that a coordinated and long-term national strategy is necessary to effectively address the growing challenges associated with population growth.
