Murree (Raja Usman Ali) – A district orientation session was held in Murree under the Pakistan Women Leaders (PWL) project, organized by SSDO in collaboration with TDEA, UN Women, and the European Union (EU) at a local hotel. Representatives from various political parties, civil society, bar associations, media, and other relevant organizations attended the session. The aim of the session was to raise awareness among participants about the Pakistan Women Leaders project and to introduce women to the opportunities available for their involvement in political, social, and decision-making processes.
On this occasion, SSDO welcomed the participants and provided a brief overview of the foundation’s work and its services in the social and developmental sectors. They emphasized that the role of women in societal development is crucial, and providing them with leadership and decision-making opportunities is a pressing need of the time. During the orientation, participants were given detailed information about the project’s objectives, activities, and the opportunities available for women. The goal of the Pakistan Women Leaders project is to enhance women’s leadership skills, boost their confidence, and prepare them to play an effective role in political and social processes. The orientation program included practical guidance on the online application submission process, explaining the various stages of the application on the Pakistan Women Leaders online portal, and how candidates can complete and submit their applications by entering the required information in the form.
Participants were informed that this is a 34-month program, ongoing in 57 districts of Pakistan. The program will include training sessions, boot camps, mentorship, and other activities to promote women’s leadership.
During the session, participants raised questions regarding women’s political and social participation, eligibility to apply for the program, nomination and election procedures, which were answered, and necessary guidance was provided.
Participants described the Pakistan Women Leaders project as a significant initiative for providing women with opportunities to advance and take on leadership roles. They stressed that political parties, civil society, media, bar associations, and other organizations should disseminate information about this program to qualified and capable women in their respective circles so that more women can benefit from this opportunity.
