Attock (Staff Reporter) – On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the district administration and the Labour and Human Resources Department are taking strong measures to eliminate child labour and bonded labour in District Attock, as in other districts of Punjab.
This was stated by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Attock, Anil Saeed, while chairing the monthly meeting of the District Vigilance Committee (DVC) held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
On this occasion, Assistant Director Labour and Human Resources Adnan Saleem briefed the meeting that during the last month, five FIRs were registered against owners of five establishments for violations of child labour laws. He further informed that regular inspections are ongoing to ensure effective implementation of labour laws related to workers’ health, safety, and other regulations.
The meeting also reviewed in detail the strict enforcement of health and safety laws for workers, timely measures to prevent industrial and commercial accidents, Social Security registration, and other labour-related matters.
Additional Deputy Commissioner General Anil Saeed directed the Assistant Director Labour and Human Resources to ensure that violations of child labour, bonded labour, and health and safety laws are not tolerated under any circumstances. He emphasized that workers’ health, safety, and welfare must be fully ensured and strict legal action should be taken against individuals and institutions found violating the law.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the District Child Protection and Welfare Bureau, Vice Chairman Pakistan Workers Federation Munir Hussain Butt, Social Security representatives, President Bhattay Khisht Union Chaudhry Ghazanfar Ali, HR Manager Taxila Cotton Mills Muhammad Azam Hashmi, and other relevant officials and representatives.
