Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services Reviewed; Commitment Expressed to Provide Full Support for Making the Centre an Exemplary Rehabilitation Institution of the Country
Peshawar (Bureau Report) — Former Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Chairman Board of Governors, Paraplegic Centre Peshawar, Dr. Shehzad Khan Bangash, along with respected members of the Board, conducted a detailed visit to various departments of Paraplegic Centre Peshawar and reviewed the services being provided for the rehabilitation of patients suffering from spinal cord injuries.
On the occasion, Director Rehabilitation Dr. Ameer Zaib gave a detailed briefing about the centre’s services, performance, and different departments. He informed the delegation that Paraplegic Centre Peshawar is a unique institution in the country providing comprehensive physical, psychological, and social rehabilitation services under one roof, free of cost, to individuals affected by spinal cord injuries, polio, and other physical disabilities.
He explained that the centre provides all essential facilities, including medical rehabilitation, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing care, orthotics, wheelchair services, psychological and social rehabilitation, and vocational rehabilitation, completely free of charge. The purpose is to help patients move beyond dependency on wheelchairs or beds and return to a dignified, independent, and active life.
The delegation visited different wards, rehabilitation units, and support service departments, met with patients, and inquired about the facilities being provided to them.
The Chairman and Board members appreciated the professional expertise, patient-friendly environment, and comprehensive rehabilitation services available at the institution and expressed their satisfaction.
Dr. Shehzad Khan Bangash stated that Paraplegic Centre Peshawar is not only a source of pride for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but for the entire country. He assured that the Board of Governors would continue providing all possible support to enhance the institution’s capacity, further expand its services, and transform it into a model rehabilitation centre at the national level.
Director Rehabilitation Dr. Ameer Zaib thanked the Chairman and respected members of the Board of Governors and assured that the institution would continue its mission of providing quality, dignified, and patient-friendly rehabilitation services with full commitment and dedication so that every person affected by physical disability can regain confidence, independence, and the ability to live a respectable life.
