Workers’ welfare and promotion of trade and industry are closely linked, says Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen
Islamabad (Special Correspondent): The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and the CDA Labour Union have agreed to further strengthen institutional cooperation to transform the federal capital into a cleaner, better-organized, business-friendly, and attractive destination for investment.
The commitment was expressed during a visit of a delegation of the CDA Labour Union, led by its President Aurangzeb Khan and Secretary General Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen, to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Welcoming the delegation, ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mahmood said that the development, prosperity, and sustainable economic stability of Islamabad depend on effective civic institutions and strong business activities.
He stated that quality civic facilities, modern infrastructure, and an investor-friendly environment are essential for economic growth, increased investment, and the creation of employment opportunities. Appreciating the services of CDA employees, he said that their role in the construction, beautification, and maintenance of the capital city is highly commendable.
Sardar Tahir Mahmood added that ICCI will continue working with all government institutions for the collective development of Islamabad and to address issues affecting citizens and the business community.
On the occasion, CDA Labour Union Secretary General Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen thanked the ICCI leadership for the warm welcome and said that workers’ welfare and the promotion of trade and industry are interconnected.
He stated that effective coordination between ICCI and the CDA Labour Union would help in the timely resolution of civic and business-related issues. He reiterated that the CDA Labour Union believes in democratic, constitutional, and peaceful struggle for workers’ rights.
Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen said that CDA employees have played a fundamental role in the construction, development, and beautification of Islamabad. Therefore, they should be provided with a dignified working environment, better facilities, and welfare initiatives. He emphasized that matters related to employees should be resolved through meaningful dialogue rather than unilateral decisions.
ICCI Founder Group Chairman Sheikh Tariq Sadiq and former ICCI President Khalid Javed said that continuous coordination between civic institutions and the private sector is essential for ensuring quality urban services and promoting business activities.
Pakistan Workers Federation General Secretary Asad Mahmood and Additional Deputy General Secretary Muhammad Rizwan also expressed their views on the occasion.
ICCI Executive Member Mirza Muhammad Ali expressed gratitude and said that the Chamber believes in collective efforts for resolving civic issues, improving workers’ welfare, and creating greater ease of doing business.
The event was conducted by former Senior Vice President Khalid Chaudhry. Those present included ICCI Executive Members Imran Minhas and Malik Najeeb, former Senior Vice President Malik Naveed, Vice President Ashfaq Chattha, Chairman Real Estate Committee Israr-ul-Haq Mashwani, representatives of various Traders Welfare Associations, CDA Labour Union Patron-in-Chief Haji Sabir, Supreme Leader Mirza Saeed, and other business and labour leaders.
