Islamabad (Crime Reporter) – Islamabad Police made comprehensive security arrangements for the processions held at Bari Imam and Shah Allah Ditta on the 11th of Muharram-ul-Haram. More than 2,500 officers and personnel performed security duties, while the procession routes were monitored through the Safe City system and Mobile Control Room. Alternative traffic routes were also provided to facilitate citizens.
According to details, under the special directives of Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Islamabad Police ensured robust security measures and maintained an effective traffic management system for the 11th Muharram processions. More than 2,500 personnel from Islamabad Police and other law enforcement agencies were deployed, while Islamabad Traffic Police officers played a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of traffic.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, accompanied by SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, SSP Security Operations Salman Zafar, Zonal SPs, and other senior police officers, reviewed the overall security arrangements. On the occasion, he stated that Islamabad Police remained fully committed to maintaining law and order and protecting the lives and property of citizens during Muharram-ul-Haram. He added that all possible measures were being taken to promote inter-sect harmony, religious tolerance, and brotherhood.
He further said that, in line with the vision of IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, a peaceful environment and foolproof security would be ensured throughout Muharram-ul-Haram. He directed all officers to remain vigilant and strictly implement all security SOPs during processions and religious gatherings.
A multi-layered security plan was implemented for the 11th Muharram processions in the federal capital. Sniper commandos were deployed on rooftops along the procession routes, while the operation of private drones in procession areas was prohibited. Specialized units of Islamabad Police, including SWAT Commandos, Delta Force, Red Zone Commandos, APC Units, CTD, District Police, and Rangers, were deployed at the front and rear of the processions.
Female police officers and women volunteers were deployed for the checking of female participants. Dedicated pedestrian entry points were established, where heavy police contingents were stationed. Special scanners were installed at all entry points to ensure effective screening, and no one was allowed entry without passing through the designated routes and security checks.
Traffic flow was effectively maintained throughout the processions to minimize inconvenience for commuters. Due to efficient arrangements by Islamabad Traffic Police, traffic remained smooth across the federal capital. An alternative traffic plan was also implemented, while vehicle parking around the procession routes was strictly prohibited.
The DIG Islamabad appreciated the cooperation of Islamabad Police, Rangers, the district administration, peace committees, organizers of religious gatherings and processions, and the public, stating that their collective efforts ensured exemplary law and order in the federal capital.
Central Ninth Muharram Procession Concludes Peacefully in G-6
Islamabad – The central procession of the 9th of Muharram-ul-Haram commenced from the Central Imambargah in Sector G-6/2 and passed through its traditional route, including Lal Quarter, G-6/2 Chowk, G-6/3, Melody Market, and other designated roads before concluding at the Central Imambargah.
Sabeels (refreshment stalls) were arranged by mourners at various locations, while doctors and Rescue personnel remained deployed to provide medical assistance.
A complete security cordon was established around the procession. More than 3,000 officers and personnel from District Police, Special Branch, and Traffic Police were deployed to provide security.
According to the police spokesperson, the procession was monitored through the Safe City Central Control Room and Mobile Control Room. The route was secured with barbed wire and barricades, while sniper commandos were deployed on rooftops. Scanners were installed at all entry points, and the route was cleared by the Bomb Disposal Squad before the procession commenced.
Private drone operations were banned in procession areas, while special contingents of CTD, District Police, and Rangers remained deployed at the front and rear of the procession.
Female police officers and women volunteers were assigned for the checking of female participants. Entry was permitted only through designated access points.
An alternative traffic management plan was implemented to ensure the uninterrupted flow of traffic.
Chief Traffic Officer Kainat Azhar Khan visited the G-6 procession route, reviewed traffic arrangements, and issued instructions to officers on duty. More than 350 traffic officers were deployed for traffic management during the procession.
Following the peaceful conclusion of the central Muharram procession in G-6, Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi addressed a press conference and commended all officers and personnel for their dedication. He also expressed special gratitude to the district administration, Pakistan Army, and Pakistan Rangers for their cooperation.
He stated that excellent coordination was maintained among all security institutions and praised the police force for performing their duties with determination despite the intense heat.
The IGP further said that more than 6,500 personnel, including both male and female officers, were deployed for the security of the central procession. District Police, Investigation Wing, CIA, CTD, and all five police divisions remained fully active throughout the event.
He added that the central procession was protected through a seven-layer security system.
Director General Safe City/DIG Traffic Muhammad Haroon Joiya and Chief Traffic Officer Kainat Azhar Khan personally supervised the security and traffic arrangements for the central procession.
