Major Action Against Illegal Transportation of Wheat in Mianwali

Two Trucks Carrying 700 Sacks of Wheat Seized at Chashma Check Post

On the directions of Mianwali Deputy Commissioner Shahid Abbas Kathia, the Food Department has taken major action against the illegal transportation of wheat.

During checking at the Chashma Check Post, two trucks carrying wheat to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) without the required permit were seized. A total of 700 sacks of wheat, each weighing 100 kilograms, were recovered from the trucks.

District Food Controller Khadim Hussain Faraz, while providing details, said that the Food Department had received confidential information the previous night that wheat was being illegally transported to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through the Chashma Check Post.

Acting on the information, the Food Department intercepted two trucks at the inter-provincial Chashma Check Post and seized 700 sacks of wheat weighing 100 kilograms each. The recovered wheat was subsequently transported to the Mianwali Wheat Procurement Centre.

He said that the wheat seized during the attempted smuggling was worth approximately Rs. 6.2 million.

The District Food Controller further said that a case had been registered against the individuals involved in the illegal transportation and smuggling of wheat.
