Control Room Established at Safe City to Monitor All Processions and Majalis; More Than 3,000 Cameras and Drones Being Used for Surveillance, Says Police Spokesperson
Islamabad (Crime Reporter): Islamabad Police have finalized comprehensive security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram. More than 15,000 personnel from the police and Rangers will perform security duties for 177 processions and 929 Majalis across the federal capital.
A dedicated control room has been established at Safe City Islamabad to monitor all processions and Majalis. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, is personally overseeing all security arrangements. All DIGs, SSPs, and AIGs of Islamabad Police have been deployed on security duties.
According to details, under the special directives of IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Islamabad Police have completed security preparations for the period from 1st Muharram to 19th Safar. During this period, over 15,000 officers and personnel from the police and Rangers will be deployed to ensure security at 177 processions and 929 Majalis.
To ensure effective monitoring, a control room has been established at Safe City Islamabad. IGP Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi is personally supervising the security measures, while all senior police officers, including DIGs, SSPs, and AIGs, remain actively engaged in security duties. Ten vigilance teams have also been formed to inspect and monitor security deployments at processions and Majalis.
Furthermore, daily search operations are being conducted throughout the district. More than 3,000 surveillance cameras and drones are being utilized to monitor processions and gatherings. Quick Response Teams (QRTs) remain on high alert to deal with any emergency situation, while Capital Patrol Unit contingents will continue patrolling in areas where processions and Majalis are being held.
To maintain smooth traffic flow, more than 500 traffic officers have been deployed. All relevant departments, including Operations, Security, Traffic, CTD, Logistics, and Special Branch, are working in close coordination. Special briefing sessions and training programs have also been conducted for officers, personnel, and volunteers assigned to duty.
Female police squads have been deployed for security checks at women’s Majalis and processions. All DIGs, SSPs, and SPs are conducting daily visits to Imambargahs. Separate parking arrangements for vehicles and motorcycles have also been put in place for processions and religious gatherings.
