Agreement Reached on Joint Research, Distance Learning, and Faculty and Student Exchange Programs
Effective Implementation of Agreements is Essential: Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood
Islamabad (Staff Reporter) — Allama Iqbal Open University and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines have signed a Letter of Intent to promote cooperation in joint research, distance and online education, faculty and student exchange programs, academic conferences, training initiatives, and other areas of mutual interest.
The agreement was signed during an online ceremony, where both universities expressed their commitment to strengthening international academic relations and promoting practical cooperation in the field of education.
Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood, and President of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Dr. Manuel M. Muhi, signed the Letter of Intent on behalf of their respective institutions.
At the beginning of the ceremony, an introductory audio-visual presentation of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines was presented. Later, Director of the Directorate of Collaboration and Exchange at Allama Iqbal Open University Dr. Zahid Majeed, Chairman of the Department of Distance, Non-Formal and Continuing Education Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal Lillah, and Director Quality Enhancement Dr. Saima Nasir briefed participants on the university’s academic, research, and international activities, existing partnerships with global universities, and future opportunities for collaboration.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood said that the real success of international partnerships lies not only in signing agreements but also in ensuring their effective and timely implementation.
He emphasized that through a clear roadmap, such collaborations can be transformed into practical benefits for students, faculty members, and researchers.
The online ceremony was attended by the President of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines along with his team, while representatives from Allama Iqbal Open University, including the Registrar, Deans, professors, and other principal officers, also participated.
Under the five-year agreement, both universities will enhance cooperation in joint research projects, academic publications, distance and online education, faculty and student exchanges, academic conferences, and training programs.
The agreement also includes a provision for extension through mutual consent, while each institution will bear the expenses of its own activities.
This partnership is an important part of Allama Iqbal Open University’s international strategy, aimed at strengthening academic and research links with global universities, expanding knowledge exchange, and ensuring joint progress in the fields of distance and online education.
