The Central Pakistan Mughal Organization held an important meeting during which participants strongly condemned the registration of a case against senior journalist and senior organization member Zaman Mughal over the publication and broadcast of news reports. The participants described the action as an attack on press freedom, freedom of expression, and constitutional rights, and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the case.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants staged a protest demonstration to express solidarity with Zaman Mughal and unanimously adopted a resolution calling for the protection of journalists, respect for press freedom, and the safeguarding of constitutional rights.

Addressing the gathering, speakers said that journalists serve as the eyes and ears of society, and that harassing media professionals or implicating them in false cases for carrying out their professional responsibilities is detrimental to any democratic society. They reaffirmed that the Central Pakistan Mughal Organization stands firmly with Zaman Mughal and will continue to extend legal, moral, and public support to protect his legitimate rights.

The meeting was attended by the organization’s Patron-in-Chief Mirza Saeed Akhtar, Chairman Sarfraz Mughal, President Umar Mughal, Senior Vice President Atif Mughal, Vice President Ghazanfar Mughal, General Secretary Ghulam Hussain Irfani, Executive Committee Chairman Qaiser Mirza, Zubair Baig, Waqar Fani, Sardar Abdul Qadeer, Raza Mughal, Zulfiqar Mughal, Shahid Mughal, along with other office-bearers and members.

The participants reiterated their commitment that the Central Pakistan Mughal Organization will continue to play an effective role in promoting press freedom, upholding the rule of law, and protecting the rights of its members. They also pledged to raise their voice at every democratic and legal forum whenever any journalist or member of the organization is subjected to injustice.
