Committee expresses concern over decades-long difficulties faced by affected allottees; Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi also called for next meeting

Islamabad (Izhar Khan Niazi): The Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works has expressed serious concern over prolonged delays in the Green Enclave-I (Bharakahu) and Sky Garden (Green Enclave-II) housing projects and the difficulties faced by affected allottees. The Committee decided to summon the Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in its upcoming meeting to receive a detailed briefing on pending investigations, inquiries, and legal matters related to these projects.

The meeting, chaired by Senator Nasir Mahmood, reviewed the progress of various federal government housing projects. The Committee observed that allottees of Green Enclave-I have been making payments since 2008, but they have still not received possession of their plots due to administrative and legal disputes that have caused prolonged delays in the project’s completion.

During a briefing on the Sky Garden Housing Scheme, the Committee was informed that more than Rs. 4.21 billion has been collected for the project. It was further stated that the handover of plots on a block-wise basis is planned to begin from December 2026 and continue until March 2027.

The Committee decided to summon the Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi in the next meeting to review the progress and resolve outstanding issues related to the project.

The Committee also reviewed the progress of Lifestyle Residency Apartments in Sector G-13 Islamabad, along with other housing projects in Quetta and Islamabad. It directed the Ministry of Housing and Works to provide regular updates regarding the progress of all projects to ensure the protection of public interests and safeguard the rights of allottees.
