Speakers Pay Tribute to the Late Poet and Intellectual on His 14th Death Anniversary

A distinguished literary and intellectual ceremony was organized at the Badin Press Club by the Shamshir Haidery Academy to mark the 14th death anniversary of the late Shamshir Haidery, a renowned Sindhi poet, writer, intellectual, playwright, journalist and former chairman of the Sindhi Adabi Board.
A large number of political, social, academic and literary personalities, poets, journalists, artists and citizens attended the event.
Prominent Sindhi elder, revolutionary and resistance poet Hafiz Nizamani, political and social leaders Khadim Talpur, Qadir Bakhsh Talpur and Mir Baleedi, Senior Vice President of the Hyderabad Union of Journalists Tanveer Ahmed Arain, General Secretary of the Badin Press Club Abdul Shakoor Memon, renowned Sindhi artist Ustad Faqeer Zulfiqar Lound, Ali Muhammad Shahani and other speakers addressed the ceremony.
The speakers paid rich tribute to the literary, journalistic, political, social and national services of the late Shamshir Haidery. They said he was among those great personalities who used every position, platform and status they held not for personal or family interests but for the cause of the nation, homeland, language, democracy and the rights of oppressed people.
They said Shamshir Haidery highlighted the problems of humanity and the Sindhi people on every platform and used his pen, intellect and voice to represent truth and justice.
The speakers described him as a courageous, principled and fearless son of Sindh who considered it his duty to speak the truth and stand for justice, whether under dictatorship or in the face of the rulers of his time.
They said he never bowed before pressure, expediency or personal interests and remained steadfast in his principles. His love for Sindh and the Sindhi people was not merely an emotional attachment; rather, his entire practical life reflected this love, struggle and intellectual commitment.
The speakers said Shamshir Haidery was a powerful voice for the oppressed. His services for the promotion of the Sindhi language and literature, preservation of Sindh’s culture and development of national consciousness constitute an important and unforgettable chapter in history.
His literary works, poetry, playwriting, journalism and intellectual struggle continue to serve as a source of guidance for future generations.
They said Shamshir Haidery was removed from important positions on various occasions, had privileges withdrawn and faced difficulties for speaking the truth, supporting the oppressed and representing Sindh. However, he never compromised on his principles. His fearlessness and commitment to principles were among the most prominent characteristics of his personality.
The speakers further said that Shamshir Haidery was not merely a poet or writer but represented an entire era. He was a poet, writer, intellectual, playwright, journalist and a socially and nationally conscious thinker who demonstrated his abilities in various fields and reached great heights of respect, fame and popularity.
During the ceremony, renowned revolutionary and resistance poets Hafiz Nizamani and Ashraf Hasrat paid tribute to Shamshir Haidery’s personality and struggle through their poetry.
Renowned Sindhi artist Ustad Faqeer Zulfiqar Lound also paid tribute through his voice and artistic performance to the late Shamshir Haidery’s services to the country and nation, democracy, Sindh and humanity.
The speakers said that although Shamshir Haidery is no longer physically among us, his thoughts and philosophy, pen, poetry, literary legacy and struggle for truth and justice remain alive.
They said preserving his memory and services is, in fact, a way of keeping alive the history of Sindh’s intellectual, literary, cultural and democratic struggle.
Former Deputy Director Education Allah Dino Mallah, intellectual and literary figures Danish Memon, Allah Bachayo Bhurgari, Abdul Majeed Mallah, Ismail Jafri and Shoaib Jafri, along with other political, social, academic and literary personalities, journalists, poets, artists and citizens, also attended the event.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, rich tribute was paid to Shamshir Haidery’s literary, journalistic and national services. Participants expressed their resolve to continue passing on his philosophy, literary legacy and struggle for Sindh, the Sindhi language, democracy and humanity to future generations.
