Islamabad (Staff Reporter): A three-day capacity-building training workshop on the theme “Assessment of Special Needs” concluded successfully at Allama Iqbal Open University. The workshop was organized by the Department of Special Education in collaboration with EPIC Trainings. The closing ceremony was presided over by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood.
The workshop aimed to enhance the timely and accurate assessment of children with special needs, strengthen the professional competencies of teachers and specialists, introduce participants to modern assessment methodologies, and develop practical skills. The three-day training program was attended by 43 teachers, specialists, and professionals from Islamabad and Rawalpindi, including representatives from the Autism Resource Center, Directorate of Special Education Punjab, Directorate General of Special Education Islamabad, Bahria Special Education School and College, Fauji Foundation Institute of Special Education, Umeed-e-Noor Special Education School, and several other institutions.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood said that the timely and accurate assessment of children with special needs is the foundation for providing them with quality education and effective educational support. He emphasized that the professional training of teachers and specialists is the need of the hour and that Allama Iqbal Open University is continuously taking initiatives to promote quality training and research in the field of special education.
