Self-sufficiency in edible oil, job opportunities, and the promotion of the agricultural economy can be achieved through olive cultivation, said the Speaker of the National Assembly.

Islamabad (Izhhar Khan Niazi) – Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq stated that tree planting is a vital means of environmental protection, addressing the negative impacts of climate change, and boosting the national economy. To make Pakistan green and prosperous, the government and the public must join forces to make tree planting a national campaign. Planting trees is an investment in a better and safer future for coming generations.

While formally inaugurating the monsoon tree planting campaign by planting an olive sapling in the Parliament House’s green area, the Speaker emphasized that trees play a crucial role in improving the environment, reducing air pollution, and combating the negative effects of climate change. Planting more trees is a pressing need for a clean, healthy, and prosperous Pakistan.

Members of Parliament, senior officials of the National Assembly, and media representatives attended the event, during which special prayers were offered for the country’s development, prosperity, and security.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq urged that every citizen should become a part of the tree planting campaign and should plant at least one sapling. The government and the public should work together to make the country greener.

The Speaker of the National Assembly stated that tree planting is not only essential for environmental improvement but also a significant means of boosting the national economy. Olive oil is a superior edible oil, and Pakistan’s climate is highly suitable for olive cultivation. By promoting olive cultivation, Pakistan can make significant progress towards self-sufficiency in the edible oil sector.

He mentioned that increasing olive production will help meet domestic needs, create new job opportunities, and promote the agricultural economy. He urged the public, members of Parliament, and relevant institutions to continue joint efforts to promote tree planting so that Pakistan can become a clean, healthy, green, and prosperous country.

The Speaker of the National Assembly reaffirmed the commitment to promote collective efforts to address environmental protection and the negative impacts of climate change. On this occasion, he also thanked Member of the National Assembly Faisal Ameen for providing the olive sapling.
