Rawalpindi (Sanober Kiani)
A highly dangerous and wanted suspect was killed in an exchange of fire between police and armed criminals late at night in the jurisdiction of Gujar Khan Police Station, while his two accomplices managed to escape while firing at the police.
According to the police, three suspects riding a motorcycle suddenly opened fire on a police patrol conducting routine checks. In the ensuing exchange of fire, one suspect was killed, while his accomplices took advantage of the darkness and fled the scene.
The deceased suspect was identified as Ghulam Rasool.
Police recovered a weapon from his possession as well as a motorcycle that had reportedly been snatched at gunpoint from the Race Course Police Station area.
According to police officials, Ghulam Rasool was wanted in multiple cases, including double murder, murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of weapons. He had also previously been convicted in a double murder case.
The suspect was accused of opening fire in the Mandrah area some time ago, killing a father and son before fleeing the scene.
Upon receiving information about the incident, senior police officers arrived at the location. After collecting evidence, a search operation was launched in the area to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, commended the SP Saddar, ASP Saddar, SHO Gujar Khan, and the police team for their bravery in confronting the dangerous criminals. He stated that those who attack citizens and police personnel cannot escape the grip of the law.
