Sound System Operator Among the Injured; Critics Question Investigation and FIR Procedures
Rawalpindi (Sanober Kayani): Two individuals were seriously injured following alleged aerial firing during a private event in the Jatli police jurisdiction. According to sources, the victims sustained bullet injuries to the neck and face and were immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
Following the incident, questions have been raised by certain quarters regarding the First Information Report (FIR) registered in the case. Critics argue that despite the use of a sound system at the event, the relevant legal provisions were not included in the FIR. They further pointed out that the injured sound system operator himself was made the complainant in the case.
According to those raising objections, if the gathering was a private event, the identities of the participants and the details of the event organizers should also have been made part of the investigation. Some observers have additionally questioned why the relevant beat officers and field staff allegedly failed to receive prior information about the event or conduct appropriate monitoring.
Sources further stated that the nominated suspects in the case have obtained pre-arrest bail. Local circles have called upon senior police authorities to review the registration of the FIR, the investigation process, and the determination of responsibility in the matter.
Further facts are expected to emerge once an official statement is issued by the police regarding the incident.
