The U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E) at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar successfully organized the Second Energy Open House and Exhibition 2026. More than 150 participants from academic institutions, industry, and government organizations attended the event and showed keen interest in the innovative projects presented by students.
The event featured Final Year Energy Engineering Projects, providing an effective platform for strengthening collaboration between academia, industry, and government institutions. A career fair held alongside the exhibition created new employment and professional networking opportunities for graduating students.
Distinguished guests included UET Peshawar Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical, Chemical and Industrial Engineering Prof. Dr. Amjad Khattak, Director of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company Fazal Muqeem, Chief Executive Officer of One Life Beverages Najeeullah Khattak, and Chief Executive Officer of Berg Consultants Engineer Saleem Berg.
Seven prominent organizations participated in the career fair, including the Sarhad Rural Support Program, Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company, One Life Beverages, Berg Energy Consultants, AGES Consultants, and Nayatel Communication Network. Representatives of these organizations conducted on-site interviews with students and offered internship and practical training opportunities.
In his opening address, USPCAS-E Director Prof. Dr. Fareed Khan stated that the center serves as a leading intellectual and research institution in the energy sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and actively promotes collaboration among universities, public and private organizations, industry, and government bodies. He praised the efforts of the organizers, faculty members, and students, noting that these innovative and practical projects could play a significant role in addressing challenges faced by the energy sector.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak congratulated the students on their achievements and encouraged them to tackle modern-day challenges through research, innovation, and professional skills. Fazal Muqeem also appreciated the center’s efforts in bridging the gap between academia and industry.
During the event, an informal consultative session was held under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Fareed Khan, Director of USPCAS-E. Representatives from industrial organizations shared their needs, experiences, and recommendations with the university administration. Participants agreed to enhance future collaboration in research, innovation, internship programs, and academic partnerships.
Student projects were evaluated by a distinguished jury comprising Engineer Umar Pervez, Director Renewables at the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization, Engineer Behlol Ahmad from the Sarhad Rural Support Program, and Associate Professor Dr. Haider Ali from the University of Technology Nowshera. Students demonstrating outstanding performance in various categories were awarded honors for their exceptional projects. Event In-Charge Dr. Khursheed Ahmad and Secretary Engineer Saad Rehan were also commended for the successful organization of the event.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the efforts of students, faculty members, supervisors, and organizers were highly appreciated. Participants reaffirmed their commitment that USPCAS-E would continue to play a vital role in developing skilled and professional human resources for the energy sector and in strengthening effective collaboration between academia and industry in the future.
