Nursery Playing a Key Role in Maintaining the City’s Beauty
Rawalpindi (Staff Reporter) – As part of its commitment to making the city greener and more vibrant, the Rawalpindi Horticulture Agency is taking special measures at the Liaquat Bagh Nursery to promote the propagation, care, and healthy growth of plants. Under its environment-friendly policy, the agency has intensified efforts to improve the cultivation and nurturing of various plant species to increase greenery in urban areas and provide a more pleasant environment for residents.
According to the directives of Managing Director Rawalpindi Horticulture Agency, Ahmad Hassan Ranjha, the nursery is currently cultivating a variety of seasonal, ornamental, fruit-bearing, and shade-providing plants. Modern agricultural and horticultural techniques are being utilized to ensure optimal plant growth and development. Nursery staff are carrying out daily irrigation, balanced fertilizer application, disease prevention measures, and general maintenance of plants.
In view of rapidly increasing urban pollution and environmental changes, Ahmad Hassan Ranjha stated that the importance of trees and plants has become greater than ever before. Keeping this need in mind, the Horticulture Agency is not only organizing tree plantation campaigns in different parts of the city but is also undertaking awareness initiatives to promote a greener environment among citizens.
He further explained that plants cultivated at the Liaquat Bagh Nursery are used to enhance the beauty of parks, green belts, highways, and public spaces across the city, thereby improving both the city’s appearance and its environmental quality.
He added that providing a clean and healthy environment is not solely the responsibility of government institutions; public participation is equally important. Citizens should actively take part in tree plantation campaigns and promote environmentally friendly activities by planting more trees and plants in their homes, educational institutions, and other locations.
