More Union Council Secretaries Included in Probe, One Arrested; Anti-Corruption Inquiry Report Sought, Further Arrests Expected

Peshawar (Khalid Khan): The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has expanded its investigation into an alleged scandal involving the issuance of fake Pakistani birth certificates, death certificates, and marriage certificates to Afghan nationals.

According to the FIA, under Case No. 15/2026, eight additional Union Council Secretaries have been included in the investigation, while Sajid, Secretary of Union Council Z Colony, has been arrested. The agency stated that the investigation is ongoing and that legal action is being pursued against other individuals allegedly involved in the case.

FIA officials further disclosed that a formal letter has been sent to the Anti-Corruption Department requesting its inquiry report. They added that further significant arrests are expected as the investigation progresses.

Meanwhile, some complainants have alleged that Asif, Secretary of NC-25 Imran Abad, Shaheen Muslim Town, Peshawar, was involved in irregularities and allegedly issued birth certificates, death certificates, and marriage certificates to Afghan nationals in exchange for bribes ranging from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000. The complainants also claimed that the secretary had previously been the subject of multiple inquiries and had been summoned by anti-corruption authorities.

The complainants further alleged that an influential individual, whom they claim is associated with the Sokai area of Jalalabad, Afghanistan, is allegedly attempting to shield Secretary Asif from legal action.

However, it should be noted that these allegations are based solely on the statements of the complainants. The FIA’s investigation is still underway, and under the law, no individual can be considered guilty unless the allegations are proven in a court of law.
