Lawyers Have Always Played an Effective Role in Strengthening Democracy and the Rule of Law: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq

Legislative Drafting Council established in the National Assembly to improve the quality of legislation; Speaker meets delegation of the Hyderabad High Court Bar Association

Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that the legal fraternity has always played an active and constructive role in upholding the rule of law, promoting democratic values, and strengthening democracy. He stated that, in order to further improve the quality of legislation in the National Assembly, a Legislative Drafting Council, comprising experts selected on merit, has been established.

He expressed these views on Monday during a meeting with a delegation of the Executive Committee of the Hyderabad High Court Bar Association at Parliament House, Islamabad. Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly Captain (Retd.) Abdul Khaliq Khan Achakzai was also present on the occasion.

During the meeting, the delegation informed the Speaker of the National Assembly about the issues and challenges faced by the legal community in the performance of their professional duties. Detailed discussions were also held on the professional development, welfare, and other related matters concerning lawyers.

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that lawyers have rendered significant services in strengthening democratic institutions and promoting the rule of law. He emphasized the need for closer cooperation between Parliament and the legal fraternity, stating that such collaboration would further strengthen and improve the legislative process.

He added that the National Assembly’s Legislative Drafting Council is playing an important role in improving and strengthening the legislative process and is helping ensure high-quality legislation.

The delegation of the Hyderabad High Court Bar Association appreciated Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq’s efforts to strengthen parliamentary institutions and promote effective engagement with the legal community.

The Speaker assured the delegation that all issues and proposals raised during the meeting would be given serious consideration and that appropriate measures would be taken to address them.

The delegation included Acting President Rehana Gujar, General Secretary Syed Shehzad Ali Shah, Finance Secretary Javed Ali Brerro, Joint Secretary Asif Ali Abro, Library Secretary Faizan Ahmed Memon, Managing Committee members Imam Bakhsh Dars and Qadir Bakhsh Grano, and Coordinator Sohail Ahmed Memon.
