Rescue operation halted due to darkness; relatives accuse authorities of negligence and demand immediate resumption of search

Rawalpindi (Syed Shahid Waheed Hashmi): The rescue operation to locate 12-year-old Abu Bakr, who drowned in the Seham Drain, was temporarily suspended due to darkness. According to Rescue 1122 officials, the operation will resume on Saturday morning to continue the search efforts more effectively.

Meanwhile, the boy’s family members strongly protested against the decision to halt the operation, claiming that the rescue teams did not conduct the search with full commitment and adequate resources.

The relatives alleged that negligence was shown during the search operation, while local residents continued efforts to locate the child on their own.

The family demanded that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz take immediate notice of the situation and ensure that the search operation continues until the child is found. They stated that suspending the operation was not an appropriate decision under the circumstances.

The protesting family members warned that if a comprehensive rescue operation is not resumed immediately, they will block Peshawar Road and launch a strong protest, holding the concerned departments responsible for any consequences.
