Tarbela Ghazi (Correspondent): Former Member of the Provincial Assembly Faisal Zaman, also known as a former member of the “Jahazon Wala Group,” has said that Ghazi Tehsil is currently a formal part of Haripur District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and cannot be transferred to another province, particularly Punjab, through a simple government notification.
He said that any change in provincial boundaries is an important constitutional and legal matter for which the procedure prescribed under the Constitution must be followed.
Faisal Zaman pointed out that the merger of the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the past was also not carried out through an ordinary administrative notification. Instead, it was approved by Parliament through a constitutional amendment.
The former MPA said that information circulating on social media and through other sources regarding Ghazi Tehsil should not be presented as established facts when such claims are contrary to the actual situation. Instead, accurate and authentic information should be provided to the public.
He said that changing the provincial status of any area is not a routine administrative decision but a matter linked to constitutional requirements. Therefore, speculation and unverified reports regarding the issue should be avoided.
