Islamabad (Staff Reporter) – The Chairman of the Capital Development Authority inspected the ongoing construction work of the Islamabad Model Jail project.
During the visit, Sohail Ashraf reviewed the development activities and was briefed by the concerned project officials regarding the progress of the project.
Officials informed the Chairman that the construction work of the administrative block included in the Islamabad Model Jail project has entered its final stages. They further stated that Barrack No. 1 and 2 have been 100 percent completed, while approximately 95 percent construction work of Barrack No. 3 has also been completed. All sanitary and electrical works in the remaining barracks have also been completed.
They added that the construction work of the hospital included in the project for inmates has also been almost completed. Watchtowers and all security posts of the model jail have also been fully completed.
During the briefing, it was informed that the remaining boundary walls around the jail will also be completed soon. The Project Director stated that several steps are being taken to ensure water supply, and the installation work of a filtration plant to provide clean drinking water in the Islamabad Model Jail will be completed as soon as possible.
Sewerage, drainage, and footpaths construction, along with other development works, are also being completed at a fast pace.
It was further stated that all poles for streetlights inside the jail have been installed, and the PC-I for Phase II has been prepared.
In the new financial year, formal work on Phase II of the Islamabad Model Jail will be started. The Chairman directed that high-quality and timely completion of all development works must be ensured. He instructed the Project Director and concerned officials to ensure effective monitoring of all ongoing construction activities so that quality standards and timely completion are achieved under all circumstances.
