Islamabad (Report: Izhaar Khan Niazi) The FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad has conducted a major operation against corruption and fraud at the Protectorate of Immigrants Office in Rahmanabad, Rawalpindi, arresting three private agents red-handed. Following the identification of the arrested agents, two government officials from the Protectorate Office were also taken into custody. According to the FIA, the private agents were allegedly collecting large sums of money from citizens under the pretext of obtaining work permits for employment abroad, while bribing government officials to expedite the processing of citizens’ applications. During the forensic examination of the arrested agents’ mobile phones, images of various visas for Europe, Gulf countries, the UK, and African nations, as well as voice notes of conversations with officials from the Protectorate Office, were recovered, which are considered crucial evidence in the investigation. Based on the agents’ identification, two government officials from the Rawalpindi Protectorate Office, Murtaza Ali, Data Entry Operator, BS-15, and Waqas, Upper Division Clerk, BS-11, were also arrested. A case numbered 40/2026 has been registered against the accused under sections 420, 468, and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code and section 5(2) of the Anti-Corruption Act of 1947. FIA officials stated that the implementation of a zero-tolerance policy against corruption is ongoing, and indiscriminate action will be taken against those involved in corruption within government institutions, while further investigations of the arrested individuals are underway.
