London/Islamabad (Special Report): Chairman of the Global Pak Kashmir Supreme Council, Raja Sikandar Khan, and President of the Kashmir International Organization, Kala Khan, have expressed deep sorrow and concern over the recent incidents resulting in loss of life in various areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. They urged the Government of Azad Kashmir to conduct a complete, impartial, and independent investigation into the incidents and bring those responsible to justice.
In a joint statement issued to the media, both leaders said that reports of innocent people being killed and injured during peaceful marches and demonstrations in districts including Mirpur, Kotli, and Rawalakot are extremely distressing. They extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
The statement emphasized that it is the fundamental responsibility of every government to protect the lives, property, security, and basic rights of its citizens. Therefore, the Government of Azad Kashmir, relevant authorities, and law enforcement agencies must ensure that no innocent citizen is harmed and that all necessary measures are taken to safeguard the public.
Raja Sikandar Khan and Kala Khan also called on the Government of Azad Kashmir to restore internet services, ensure uninterrupted access to communication and emergency services, and allow national and international media to report freely and transparently.
They further stated that adequate compensation should be provided to the families of all victims who lost their lives, whether civilians or members of law enforcement agencies, while comprehensive support and medical treatment should be ensured for those injured.
The statement appealed to the Public Action Committee and the people of Azad Kashmir to continue exercising their democratic rights in a peaceful and lawful manner. The leaders stressed that human life is irreplaceable and urged all parties to demonstrate patience, restraint, and tolerance.
Both leaders called upon Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Government of Azad Kashmir, and the Public Action Committee to work together through dialogue, consultation, and peaceful means to resolve outstanding issues, end bloodshed, and promote peace and stability in the region.
They concluded by praying for peace, stability, and prosperity in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan, while expressing hope that the tragic loss of innocent lives would come to an end.
