DC Shahid Abbas Kathia Directs Action Against Kite Flying, Pigeon Flying and Aerial Firing

DAUD KHEL (By Zia Niazi): A meeting of the District Bird Hazard Control Committee was held at the DC Office Committee Room under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Shahid Abbas Kathia to review measures aimed at controlling bird hazards and ensuring flight safety.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Muhammad Shahid Khokhar, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Majid Bin Ahmed, Flight Safety Officer Muhammad Taseer, Chief Officer Municipal Committee Mubashir Kaleem Gul, CEO Health Dr. Mian Kashif Ali, District Manager Suthra Punjab Syed Ghulam Murtaza, and other concerned officers.

During the meeting, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue presented an agenda covering cleanliness and sanitation around the airbase, prevention of pigeon and kite flying, measures against aerial firing, and other flight safety matters.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Shahid Abbas Kathia said that Pakistan Air Force aircraft and pilots are a valuable national asset and their protection is a national responsibility.

He said that open dumping of waste attracts birds, which can pose a serious threat to valuable aircraft and pilots.

The Deputy Commissioner directed Suthra Punjab officials to ensure proper cleanliness and sanitation in and around the Pakistan Air Force airbase.

He also directed police authorities to take effective legal action against individuals involved in kite flying, pigeon flying, and aerial firing.

The Deputy Commissioner further instructed that waste generated by private hospitals should be disposed of properly in accordance with prescribed standard operating procedures (SOPs).

He directed the relevant authorities to install banners and panaflexes at prominent locations to raise public awareness about the dangers of openly dumping waste and to discourage practices that could create bird hazards around the airbase.

The meeting emphasized coordinated efforts among relevant departments to ensure flight safety and protect Pakistan Air Force personnel and aircraft from avoidable hazards.
