Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Assumes Acting President Role

 

Due to the absence of the President and the Chairman of the Senate abroad, Ayaz Sadiq will perform the duties of the President under Article 49(2) of the Constitution.

Islamabad (Izhaar Khan Niazi) – Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has assumed the role of Acting President of Pakistan. The Speaker has been assigned the responsibilities of Acting President due to the President’s visit to Austria from August 27 to 31 and the Chairman of the Senate’s official trip abroad.

According to the National Assembly Secretariat, in light of the absence of both the President and the Chairman of the Senate in Pakistan, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will perform the duties of Acting President until the return of the President or the Chairman of the Senate.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will carry out his responsibilities as Acting President under Clause 2 of Article 49 of the Constitution of Pakistan. This constitutional clause pertains to the performance of the President’s duties in the absence of the President.

According to the National Assembly Secretariat, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will perform the constitutional duties of the President as Acting President.
