Elements Involved in Attempts to Conceal or Alter Evidence Must Also Be Investigated: Shia Leader
Islamabad (City Reporter): Central Secretary General of the Shia Ulema Council Pakistan, Allama Dr. Shabbir Hassan Mithmi, has expressed serious concern over the brutal murder of Mir Raza Ali and demanded a transparent and impartial investigation into the incident so that the actual facts can be brought before the nation.
Mir Raza Ali was allegedly subjected to severe torture before being shot dead, while the victim’s parents and lawyer had repeatedly expressed reservations about the initial post-mortem report. Dozens of alleged signs of torture revealed in the second post-mortem have further highlighted the seriousness of the matter.
Allama Dr. Shabbir Hassan Mithmi said that any attempt to conceal, alter, or interfere with evidence or influence the investigation must be thoroughly investigated.
He also called for an impartial review of the role of police and relevant authorities, adding that if any officer or official is found to be involved, he or she should also be punished in accordance with the law.
Allama Dr. Shabbir Hassan Mithmi demanded that both post-mortem reports, forensic evidence, witness statements, and police records be reviewed afresh and that all elements involved in the murder of Mir Raza Ali be brought to justice.
He said that providing justice to the bereaved family is the responsibility of the state and that further silence or delay in the matter is unacceptable.
