Relatives demand justice, claiming police are not cooperating
Islamabad (City Reporter) Relatives of two young sisters, Mehndi and Sahana, who were killed by unknown gunmen in the Gulistan area of Balochistan on August 13, held a protest outside the National Press Club in Islamabad, led by Syed Zahid Zada. The protesters condemned the incident and demanded immediate justice and the arrest of the killers from the President, Prime Minister, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal, Chief Justice of Pakistan, and the Chief Minister of Balochistan. Speaking to the media, Syed Zahid Zada stated that his 16 and 17-year-old daughters were brutally shot dead, yet they have not received justice to date. He questioned, “What was the fault of our daughters? Why were they targeted?” He alleged that his wife was also shot eight times during the incident, while both of his young daughters were martyred. He claimed that the incident was allegedly the result of a tribal dispute, targeting his family, particularly the innocent young girls. Syed Zahid Zada mentioned that the police have not provided the necessary cooperation to his family following the incident. According to him, the vehicle used in the shooting or related to the incident has not yet been recovered, raising serious questions about the investigative process and police performance. The protesters stated that their young daughters were not part of any conflict and were sacrificed to alleged tribal enmity. They demanded a transparent, impartial, and thorough investigation into the incident, immediate arrest of the culprits, and strict punishment according to the law. The protesting demonstrators emphasized that ensuring peace and security in Balochistan, particularly for women and children, is the responsibility of the state. They called for justice for the families of the murdered girls, along with complete legal and state support to effectively pursue the case of their loved ones’ killings. Syed Zahid Zada and other relatives appealed to the President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Army Chief Field Marshal, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, and the Chief Minister of Balochistan to take immediate notice of this tragic incident and issue orders to relevant authorities for the arrest of the culprits and transparent investigations. The protesters made it clear that they seek justice not for personal revenge but in accordance with the law and the constitution. They stated that if the killers are not promptly arrested and brought to justice, it would not only undermine the affected family’s trust in state institutions but also send a negative message regarding the rule of law in society. During the protest, demonstrators held placards demanding justice for the murdered girls and appealed to the government and relevant authorities to immediately arrest those responsible for the killings of Mehndi and Sahana and bring them to justice, providing the affected family with the justice they deserve.
