Lawyers and Citizens Protest Against Mianwali Toll Plaza, Demand Relocation to District Boundary

Daud Khel (Zia Niazi): Lawyers and citizens staged a strong protest against the location of the toll plaza on MM Road, demanding that it be shifted away from Mianwali city to the district boundary.

The protesters stated that the toll plaza is currently located in the middle of Mianwali city, forcing every citizen entering or leaving the city to pay the toll tax, which they termed an injustice to the public.

Addressing the protest, District Bar President Amir Aslam Khan, senior lawyer Malik Athar Yar Awan, and former Leader of the House Haji Ejaz Khan Pano Khail demanded that the MM Road toll plaza be relocated to Hameed Kot, near the boundary between Mianwali District and Bhakkar District. They also demanded the immediate withdrawal of the recently increased toll fee.

They said that the peaceful protest would continue until the “unjust tax” is removed from its current location and the toll plaza is shifted.

Speaking to the media, former Leader of the House Ejaz Khan Pano Khail, District Bar President Amir Aslam Khan Yarokhel, and Advocate Malik Athar Yar said that the current demonstration was a symbolic and legitimate protest. They stated that the matter is now in the government’s hands and immediate action should be taken.

They warned that if the government fails to address the issue, a larger protest would be organized with full preparation in the future. They said that such a burden on citizens would not be tolerated and urged the government to take immediate steps to relocate the toll plaza to the district boundary and provide relief to the public.
