Festival Aims to Promote Pakistan’s Culture and Trade, Says Rabia Shafiq
SINGAPORE (Special Report): The High Commission of Pakistan in Singapore organized a “Mango Festival” as part of celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Singapore, showcasing Pakistan’s renowned mangoes.
Singapore’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Zulkarnain Abdul Rahim, was the chief guest at the event.
Government officials, members of the business community, diplomats, media representatives, and members of the Pakistani and Singaporean communities attended the festival.
The event featured some of Pakistan’s premium mango varieties, particularly the renowned Chaunsa and Sensation varieties. Participants had the opportunity to experience the distinctive taste, aroma, and quality of Pakistani mangoes.
Addressing the gathering, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Singapore Rabia Shafiq said Pakistani mangoes were unmatched in taste. She said the Pakistan High Commission was using such events to introduce the people of Singapore to Pakistan’s cultural diversity, traditional hospitality, and national heritage while further strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.
The High Commissioner said the Mango Festival, organized to mark the 60th anniversary of Pakistan-Singapore diplomatic relations, also aimed to highlight the combination of Pakistan’s culture, trade, and cuisine.
During the event, a short video titled “Salam Pakistan” was screened, showcasing Pakistan’s scenic landscapes, tourist destinations, and rich cultural heritage. A cake-cutting ceremony was also held.
Participants appreciated the high quality of Pakistani mangoes and praised their appealing aroma, soft texture, and sweet taste.
The Mango Festival served as an effective platform for promoting Pakistani agricultural exports, introducing high-quality Pakistani mangoes to the Singaporean market, and highlighting opportunities to further expand trade ties between the two countries.
The event also highlighted the longstanding friendship, partnership, and mutual cooperation between Pakistan and Singapore, built on six decades of diplomatic relations.
