Criticizes Health Sector Policies; Hospital Administration Claims Facilities Are Being Provided to Patients
Daud Khel (Zia Niazi): The Mother and Child Hospital Mianwali was a valuable gift from Imran Khan for the people, aimed at providing quality healthcare facilities to the underprivileged. However, due to what he described as poor government policies, the healthcare system at DHQ Hospital Mianwali has been disrupted, causing difficulties for patients. These views were expressed by MPA Aminullah Khan of PP-86 during his visit to the hospital.
Aminullah Khan stated that the privatization of Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Rural Health Centers (RHCs) has damaged the healthcare sector, while people are suffering due to the lack of facilities. He particularly highlighted the situation at Daud Khel Rural Health Center, stating that there are no medicines, doctors, or paramedical staff available, leaving the public distressed.
During his visit to DHQ Hospital Mianwali, MPA Aminullah Khan met with Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr. Haroon Shah and obtained detailed information about the hospital’s operations and facilities.
Dr. Haroon Shah informed him that the hospital is functioning properly and there is no electricity issue. He said that there was a problem with the air-conditioning system, for which a team from Lahore has already arrived, and the AC system would be restored within two to four days. He added that medicines are also being provided to patients.
After the meeting, MPA Aminullah Khan visited the hospital pharmacy, reviewed the availability of medicines, inspected different wards, and met with patients to inquire about the treatment facilities being provided to them. Patients and their attendants stated that they were receiving the required facilities.
The Medical Superintendent informed that the hospital currently has approximately 450 beds and efforts are being made to provide all possible facilities to patients. He also mentioned that there is an issue with the sewerage system, which is being addressed.
Speaking on the occasion, MPA Aminullah Khan said that during their tenure, Imran Khan ensured the construction of the Mother and Child Hospital with modern facilities. However, he alleged that due to ineffective government policies, poor citizens are facing difficulties, while other healthcare units have also been privatized, creating problems for ordinary people.
He further claimed that the condition of Daud Khel Rural Health Center is extremely poor, with shortages of medicines, syringes, doctors, X-ray facilities, and anti-rabies vaccines for dog bites. He said that the healthcare sector in Punjab has failed and urged that maximum possible facilities should be provided to the public, especially in the fields of health and education, so that citizens can receive relief.
