During visit to Eidgah Sharif Rawalpindi, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani pays tribute to religious and spiritual services, emphasizes national interest, democratic stability, economic growth, and interfaith harmony
Rawalpindi (Izhar Khan Niazi): Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan currently needs national unity, political stability, constitutional supremacy, and economic strength. He emphasized that all political forces must rise above personal and party interests and prioritize national interests to effectively address the challenges facing the country.
He expressed these views during his visit to Eidgah Sharif Rawalpindi, where he was received by Sajjada Nasheen Pir Syed Muhammad Hassan Haseeb-ur-Rehman. The occasion was also attended by British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott, Federal Minister for Education Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and Prime Minister’s Adviser on Cryptocurrency Bilal Bin Saqib.
During the visit, Pir Syed Muhammad Hassan Haseeb-ur-Rehman briefed the Senate Chairman about the history of Eidgah Sharif, its religious and spiritual services, reformative role, and traditions of Sufism. He stated that Eidgah Sharif has remained an important center of spiritual training, religious education, remembrance of Allah, spiritual gatherings, and promotion of Islamic values for more than one and a half centuries, attracting millions of devotees from Pakistan and abroad.
Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani paid rich tribute to the religious, spiritual, and social services of Eidgah Sharif. He said that saints and Sufi scholars have always promoted messages of love, tolerance, brotherhood, patience, and service to humanity.
He stated that Islam is a religion of peace, love, harmony, and mutual respect, and that there is no place for terrorism, extremism, or hatred in its teachings.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that Parliament will continue playing its constitutional role in promoting national consensus, dialogue, and democratic traditions. He emphasized that economic stability, promotion of investment, increase in exports, creation of new employment opportunities, and maximum relief for the public are among the country’s most important needs.
The Chairman Senate stated that the entire nation must move forward with unity, tolerance, and mutual trust to overcome challenges including terrorism, extremism, poverty, unemployment, and other national issues.
He expressed confidence that strong democratic institutions, national solidarity, and collective public strength would enable Pakistan to successfully overcome every challenge.
He hoped that spiritual centers like Eidgah Sharif would continue playing an effective role in promoting love, tolerance, religious harmony, interfaith respect, and national unity in the future.
