Dr. Safdar Abbasi, President of the Pakistan Peoples Party Workers, and Naheed Khan, political assistant to the late Benazir Bhutto, expressed deep sorrow and regret over the tragic incident at PIMS Hospital in Islamabad that resulted in the deaths of 14 innocent children. They demanded immediate, transparent, comprehensive, and impartial investigations into the incident, urging a review of all relevant aspects.
In their joint statement, they described the PIMS hospital tragedy as extremely heartbreaking, which has saddened every sensitive heart. The loss of innocent children’s lives is an unbearable shock for their parents and families. They stated that the grief of the bereaved families cannot be expressed in words. May Allah grant the deceased children a high place in paradise and give their parents and families the strength and patience to bear this immense loss. Safdar Abbasi and Naheed Khan reiterated their demand for immediate, transparent, comprehensive, and impartial investigations into the incident, emphasizing the need to review all relevant aspects. They stated that if any negligence, carelessness, or failure in duty is proven during the investigations, strict legal action should be taken against those responsible without discrimination. They added that while the precious lives of the 14 innocent children cannot be brought back, thorough investigations and identification of those responsible are essential to ensure that no other family has to endure such an unbearable tragedy in the future.
